It happened in my congregation with a suicide threat, no judicial action taken. Not sure about a lawsuit threat.

Did Jesus Have a Dog?
Evidently, he did not. In these last days, many put undue emphasis on things like pets, in effect worshipping them. The Awake! magazine of 1/22, 1976, in the article "Enjoy Pets- IN THEIR PLACE!" says that some have given their animals . . .
gold bracelets, black lace panties, evening gowns and birthday parties . . . They have obtained clip-on diapers for their parrakeets, false eyelashes for their poodles and sunglasses for vacationing pets.
The article also mentions that a pet owner might . . .
permit himself to be “kissed” by a pet that had recently been licking its sexual and anal areas
Surely such actions are unbecoming of a mature christian.

False memorial partakers deserve to die???
by Jofi_Wofo inevery memorial, much emphasis is placed on making sure that only the (self-proclaimed) anointed partake in the emblems.
this year, however, the speaker at my wife's congregation presented it as an even more serious matter.
he likened it to individuals in ancient israel who sought position of the priesthood despite never been appointed by jehovah.

Methinks he's a little rogue. My talk said the exact opposite, that we shouldn't judge any who choose to "partake".

Would the world be a better place without religion?
by pistolpete ini know what you’re gonna say---------everyone has a right to believe whatever they want.. but the question above is not about everyone’s right to believe whatever.. the question is very specific------will the world be a better place----without religion.
think for a while what the world would be like without any religion.. no conflicts between islam and christianity.. no conflicts between different sects of christianity.
(example; jehovah’s witnesses vs catholics).

Even the irreligious manage to channel their worship into organized fervor and oppression of others based on the conniving of a few and the faith of their masses. This is happening right now with things such as race relations and climate change.

Don't be absurd. Humans would always be disposed to conflict. If you think otherwise, you're as naive as John Lennon.

Questions I have about the "Ministry School".
by Pallbearer ini remember that jehovah's witnesses used to have a 2-hour, 2-part mid-week meeting which included a 1-hour "ministry school" followed by a 1-hour "service meeting".
please correct me if i am wrong in any respect but to the best of my memory the ministry school was composed of 4 parts, as follows:.
part 1: an "instruction talk".

There's a talk by an elder or servant with now participation.
Then there's the Bible highlights-like part which is mostly audience participation.
Then there's a Bible reading with no surrounding commentary unlike before.
Then there's several initial call, return visit or Bible study demonstrations. All can be given by either men or women, and these are sometimes replaced by prerecorded versions from HQ instead of local.
After that is the equivalent of the service meeting and the equivalent of the book study, both of which are much shorter than before.

I'm sure the couple raising him had absolutely no influence on him.
Fun fact: The first man to get highly publicized legal sex change surgery had it reversed later in life, saying that he was abused as a child and was unduly influenced by others around him pressuring him to be his 'true' self.
Fun fact 2: Studies show that over 60% of children and teens who transition go back before age 30. That doesn't account for the likely many who can't admit to themselves or others or don't want to go back because of commiting themselves and being mutilated.

I would ignore. You just open up a can of worms if you engage at all.

Memorial Prep question
by ExCircuitOverseer inso are individual witnesses being told to prepare bread and have wine on hand for the zoom memorial?
are they saying it’s “vital” or is it just a “suggestion?” .

It's strongly "encouraged". It has been mentioned at meetings and on JW Broadcasting. You don't have to make it yourself, you can buy the right stuff, but if you don't at least have it on hand you would be viewed as spiritually weak by many.

Talk about your freedom and guns and marrying your cousins and such .
I dunno, sounds a little racist to me. You know, stereotypes and everything.
